No true wine experience is complete without food and great discussion. Opimian's tasting events are the perfect venue to cultivate your palatte. Our events allow new members to taste and sample Opimian wine, meet other Opimian members and learn more about the wine world from vintage Opimians. Our vintage Opimians attend to meet up with long-time friends, enjoy new Opimian wines and challenge their palette. Tasting events are organized by Opimian Area Representatives, creative individuals who love to organize memorable events for members. Every year, over 150 events are held from coast to coast to coast, designed, organized and implemented  by these intrepid volunteers.

Opimian members are welcome to attend any Opimian event across the country. If you are planning a vacation or have a business trip coming up, check back here to see if there will be an Opimian event at your destination - a night out on the town with other like-minded wine lovers will be a great way to unwind after your travels.

Guests and non-members are also welcome to attend any Opimian event; in fact, tasting events are the best way to get to know Opimian!

All of our events are listed below. If you are interested in learning more about an event or attending, please click on the link provided for more information. All reservations must be made with the Area Representative organizing the event (contact information can be found on the PDF).

Return to Bordeaux

Perhaps the most iconic wine region of the world is Bordeaux with the most sought-after wines coming from there. In the past we have visited the wine and food of the region, and it is fitting that we return. Bordeaux and the wines from the region are so vast that, if you can’t live there, one should visit at least once a year! At this event we offer the occasion to try another excellent selection of wines from Bordeaux and the exceptional food it inspires. We are pleased to invite you to the Sawridge Inn on May 9th for a “Return to Bordeaux”. This event is a long overdue revisit to one of our favorite regions. Whitehorse, Yukon
Enjoying Bordeaux at Antoinette's

Karen and Patrice would like to invite you to an unforgettable evening featuring some of the finest Opimian wines from Bordeaux, paired with excellent food from Antoinette’s. This venue was visited by Food Network and has twice been featured on the show “You Gotta Eat Here”. As you walk through the doors of Antoinette’s you are welcomed by an architecturally eye pleasing locally built concrete bar. Antoinette’s endeavors to use all the traditional, authentic ingredients necessary in all their recipes. To accompany our wines, Executive Chef Carl Pearce, has created a four-course dinner to complement the various wines that have been especially chosen for this occasion. We will each get a chance to determine how successful we have been in the pairing of wines and food. Come out, bring a guest, and be transported, at least in spirit to the wine regions of Bordeaux. As we will have less room in the restaurant than we are used to, and seating will be limited, please reserve early. Remember, you can now reserve on line.

An Opimian Evening at Les Brumes du Coude

We are pleased and excited to invite you to join Denise and Colette to our next Opimian Event. This time, we have teamed up with Chef Michel Savoie at the newly opened traditional French Bistro Les Brumes du Coude, located at the Aberdeen Cultural Centre. The laid-back rustic style restaurant will no less than “wow” you with its top notch French style cuisine. For this evening, we will focus on wines from Alsace, Spain and Portugal. The menu was specifically created for our enjoyment with locally grown and in-season delicacies, and guaranteed to please the palette. Come and join us in supporting and welcoming a new business venture for what is sure to be an amazing evening of Food and Wine celebration among friends.

As we anxiously await the coming of Spring, what better way to pass the time than by celebrating an evening with fine food and wines of Italy. For our annual tasting visit to an Italian wine district, we have selected an area which we have not visited for many years. The Alto Adige region is located in the northern part of Italy and has been influenced by German wine making techniques for years… it is however still ITALY. The grapes used to make the wines selected have a distinctive international flair. You will be warmly welcomed to Sirenella's where authentic Italian food and a warm ambiance await you. Spring is finally here and what a better way to celebrate the Season than to host our Opimian evening at Décimal 81. Located in the heart of historic uptown Saint John, Décimal 81 strives to bring you the finest in dining experience. Red Seal Chef Brad Richard's European cuisine is made with only the freshest ingredients and is guaranteed to captivate the palate. Starting our evening with Champagne George Gardet, we will also enjoy a Shiraz, Voignier blend that comes from the Black Springs small boutique Vineyard located in Mudgee on the Central Ranges of New South Whales. This wine has great length, softness and will provide you with great intensity and fulfill all of its expectations. With the great success of these events last year, we have come up with a new series of demonstration-style cooking at Cuisine et Château’s state-of-the-art Interactive Culinary Centre to entice your taste buds. Join us for the last dinner in the series, which will feature Old World vs. New World wines paired together with a unique course in a showdown to see which wine you like best! These educational events will give you a chance to learn regional cuisine and to taste some great Opimian wines. Take a virtual trip with us around the world with great pictures, stories and flavours. Sit back and relax while enjoying the food and wines from these different countries. A Return to Ritorno's

Opimians are returning to Ritorno Restaurant for an evening of fun, food, great friends and a collection of Opimian wines. Julia Hanna has been one of the most successful chefs and restaurateurs in the Oakville area for the past 30 years. She was the owner of Café Galleria and Paradiso. In 2003, she opened Julia Ristorante and most recently Ritorno in North Oakville, in 2008. Ritorno means a return to the table, the Italian way. Head Chef, Paul Kavanagh, has come directly from Ireland to head up the kitchen at Ritorno. He brings with him an extensive European culinary background including, working with Chef Gordon Ramsay. He looks forward to showcasing his passion for food. We will start the evening with a selection of delicious assorted hors d’oeuvres followed by a tasting of fine wines from South Africa, New Zealand and Australia. The tasting will be followed by a wonderful four course meal prepared especially for Opimian to accompany fine New World wines. Wines from the Loire Valley

Loire wines, which are predominantly whites with some reds, are known to display freshness and relatively high acidity which makes for perfect wine and food pairing. During the Spring of 2013, Heather Keevil, former Area Rep for Victoria, took a group of Opimian members on a fantastic trip to Loire France, organized by Opimian member Jerry Delval. From their trip, they tasted numerous wines and recommended their top picks which we immediately ordered for this evening. These wines will be presented in an informative manner and paired with a fantastic menu created by the team at the Fireside Grill. Join us as we learn, taste and explore through a presentation of the Loire Valley by Opimian member Jerry Delval. Bring a friend or gather a group and join others at the event for information and fun!

Peace River - please Come 'A Walting Matilda With Me! Our first Opimian dinner in Peace River will be held at the Sawridge Hotel. Come and join us for an enjoyable and educational evening of fine food and wonderful Opimian wines from Australia! Take a look at the fabulous menu we have planned. A four course meal has been designed to pair with the wines that will be provided from South Australia, including Geoff Hardy Wines in Adelaide Hills, as well as Hastwell and Lightoot Winery and Shottesbrooke Winery in McLaren Vale. Opimians in Grande Prairie will return to the Acropolis Restaurant for an evening of fun, food, great friends and a collection of Opimian wines. The wines being served are from four different wineries from the rapidly growing wine producing regions of South Africa. The Acropolis Restaurant is known for fine Greek cuisine in a casual and friendly atmosphere. Opimians are well known for having a good time whenever they meet. The stage is set for another successful gathering. Bring a group if you'd like - the more the merrier.

Pasta Wine Please

Food and Wine make up a major part of Italian culture. Italy is perennially one of the world's largest wine producers, and their typical cuisine is meant to complement the wines produced. Every year, the Edmonton and area chapter fills the Il Forno Ristorante to the rafters to enjoy fabulous home-style Italian fare along with some of Opimian's best Italian wines. Owner Anna Muze and her staff are preparing a special menu just for us! We will start the evening with Prosecco - an Italian sparkling wine, and some delicious appetizers. This will be followed by a four course meal and plenty of wine. This member favourite venue is known for its friendly service and cozy atmosphere. Bring your friends, sit down and "Pasta Wine Please!"

Australia has earned accolades in the wine world and is now known for its rich, fruity red wines, but there is more… much more! This event is an opportunity to enjoy fine wine and classic food from “Down Under” and share the splendour of Australia without having to leave Fort McMurray. This food and wine experience is entirely Australian and showcases the diversity of the food and wine that the island continent has to offer. It should not be missed. A Room with a View

A very popular Saskatoon event returns for two weekend nights at the end of June. Our venue remains the same, the gorgeous penthouse suite of The James Hotel which overlooks the river. It features floor to ceiling windows and two outdoor terraces connected by a sunroom. This is where Chef Andreas and his team will prepare unique small plates to complement our selection of Opimian wines. Robin is a Red Seal certified chef. After running his own catering operations, he rose through the ranks to become the Executive Chef of both the Sheraton and The James. Chef is always creative and we are looking forward to a variety of appetizers served reception style, shooter soups, a variety of salads and barbequed meats, individualized risotto and a flambéed dessert! This year's wines are from Italy, France, Spain and Portugal. The James is noted for its elegant spaces: the sleek reception area, the fireplace accented wine bar, the chic guest rooms and the chef attended breakfast room which is complimentary for hotel guests. With the opening weekend of the Saskatchewan Jazz Festival slated for the same nights, a free venue inside the wine bar and the main stage across the street serenading our penthouse Opimian event, perhaps you will choose to make A Room with a View the cornerstone of a weekend escape! Space is limited for each evening and we advise reserving quickly. Please clearly note on your reservation which night you are asking for. These evenings mark the end of our term as Saskatoon's Area Representatives and we hope to thank each of you.
