French Gourmet at The Belvedere

Time: 6:30 pm
Price: Members & First Guest: $129.00** per person

We had such positive feedback from last year’s event that we are excited to once again offer two consecutive weekend nights of French Gourmet at The Belvedere. The Belvedere takes great pride in preparing everything in house from scratch and sourced wherever possible from small local producers. They have created an exquisitely crafted 5 course gourmet menu that will be paired with a plentiful array of wonderful wines from several different regions of France. For the reception, we will have a selection of white and red wines from France to choose from. The dinner will begin with a Pinot Noir from southern Beaujolais from an ancient walled estate dating back to 1585. Its superb terroir has given it a reputation for outstanding quality and the wine is part of Opimian’s Founders’ Choice program. Next we move from the east to the west of France. The seafood appetizer course will be paired with an Entre-Deux-Mers, which is a white wine from Bordeaux, made from Sauvignon Blanc, Sauvignon Gris and Semillon. From Bordeaux we take a quick journey to Bergerac, which lies just to the east of Bordeaux and therefore has a lot of similarities. The wine is a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon and its earthy undertones will be a perfect accompaniment to the Filet Mignon and seared Foie Gras, which is a delicacy in southwest France. Finally we will finish with a wonderful and rich AOC Sauternes from the stunning 2010 vintage. If you have never tried the famous sweet wine from Bordeaux, this is your chance. There will be plenty of wine and food in this gourmet French experience, so please join your fellow Opimians for one of the two nights.

Welcome to Peasant Cookery. Come out and share the love of food and Opimian wines. With this wealth of knowledge he has planned a five course meal paired with fine Opimian wines which will make for great Opimian comradery – this is an event that cannot be missed.
